The new keyboard layout for devices with touchscreen
German researchers of the Institute of Informatics Society Max Planck managed to create a virtual keyboard for devices with touch screen, including tablets. According to specialists, the usual QWERTY layout is not very good in the set of letters thumbs through the touchscreen. Whereby the input speed is limited to twenty words per minute.
Outwards to create an alternate layout that allows to faster print speed and unload parallel arms, the researchers treated motion model of the thumbs on the PC using special algorithms. Scientists wanted to do minimal movement of the fingers, and the arrangement of letters to more effectively optimized the letter.
And so was born the layout KALQ, the main part of its vowels which is under the thumb of the right hand, the left hand will have to increase the number of characters.
Tests have shown that short duration training with KALQ increases print speed by 34% in comparison with the layout QWERTY. Plus, using the means of probabilistic error correction, as well as statistical analysis, you will improve typing speed to 37 words per minute.
